Olympiads are competitive examinations conducted at national and international levels to identify and nurture talented students in various academic disciplines such as Mathematics, Science, Computer Science, English, and more. Organized by various bodies like the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), and other educational organizations, these competitions aim to foster a deep understanding and passion for learning among students from an early age.
Indian students participate in several types of Olympiads, including the National Science Olympiad (NSO), International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), National Cyber Olympiad (NCO), and International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), among others. These Olympiads are generally conducted in two or more stages, starting with a national-level examination, followed by further rounds leading to the international level.
Olympiads not only serve as a benchmark for academic performance but also provide an opportunity for students to represent their country on an international platform. Over the years, Indian students have excelled in various Olympiads, bringing numerous accolades and establishing themselves as strong contenders globally.
It is important to note that while organizations like SOF conduct private Olympiads, the official Olympiads for international representation are governed by HBCSE, under the Department of Atomic Energy, India.
